Skilled builds schedule optimization software for contractor and distribution businesses, helping medium and large field operations move beyond phone calls, classified ads, and manual dispatch. Founded to give contracting firms a system that matches how work actually happens on the road, Skilled set out to simplify scheduling, service requests, and task management for agents spread across the United States.
The company's enterprise mobility app streamlines contracting operations end to end: project management, intelligent scheduling, compliance tracking, and customer management in one platform field agents can rely on from their first appointment to end-of-day invoicing.
Skilled partnered with Intronsoft to design and build that platform, from the intelligent scheduler that maps jobs to agent skills and availability through to the mobile experiences agents use in the field every day.
The result is an all-inclusive mobility system that keeps agents, customers, and enterprise stakeholders connected, with real-time visibility into schedules, locations, hours, and billing.
The challenge
Small contractors can manage erratic schedules with personal visits and phone-based booking. Medium and large contracting firms, and even smaller operators running structured programs, struggle when work volumes grow faster than their coordination methods.
Appointments arrived from directories, classifieds, and inbound enquiries with no single view of agent attendance, skill sets, or geographic coverage. Dispatchers could not easily reassign work when an agent was unavailable, and stakeholders lacked visibility into whether jobs would finish on time.
Skilled needed a one-stop mobility solution: schedule work against agent skills and availability, execute projects within customer timeframes, track agent activity in the field, and connect time on site directly to payroll and invoicing without manual re-entry at the end of each day.
The platform: the solution
Intronsoft and Skilled designed the platform around three operational pillars that field teams use every day: the Docket, Timecards, and invoicing.
The Docket gives each agent a single view of scheduled services. An intelligent scheduler maps appointments against skill sets and availability, with contingency coverage when an assigned agent cannot reach a customer. The view shows when to depart for the next job, displays the service address on a map with the shortest route, and surfaces customer contact details on site. Header colors and alerts warn agents who have not left on time, and updates sync from server to mobile instantly.
Timecards automate the record-keeping that contracting businesses depend on for productivity and payroll. The app logs agent arrival at a customer location, hours spent on the job, and task completion time, then maps those periods against the pay cycle. Agents can add comments, descriptive notes, and manual shift adjustments where needed.
Invoicing closes the loop in the field. Bills auto-generate from hours on site, utilities and equipment used, and any ad-hoc work added during a visit, including pricing that might otherwise be missed on paper. Agents can capture signatures on hard-copy invoices or add on-the-spot charges for additional tasks before sending records to the back office.
Built with React and Angular on the web, Node.js and MongoDB on the server, and native Swift and Java mobile clients with local SQLite and Core Data storage, the stack supports connected field workflows even when connectivity is intermittent.
Implementation journey
The project required tight alignment between Skilled's product vision and the daily rhythms of contracting operations. Intronsoft embedded partner engineers to translate dispatch, compliance, and billing requirements into mobile-first workflows agents could adopt without retraining on every release.
Agents, customers, and enterprise stakeholders were interlinked from the start so status changes in one part of the system reflected everywhere else. Real-time synchronization between server and mobile clients kept docket updates, schedule changes, and job completions visible without waiting on batch processes.
Skilled retained ownership of domain logic, customer relationships, and go-to-market for schedule optimization software. Intronsoft owned application architecture, mobile and web delivery, and the integration layer connecting field activity to back-office operations.
Iterative releases focused on the workflows agents touch most: morning schedule review, en-route navigation, on-site time capture, and end-of-day invoicing. Each cycle was validated against live field scenarios before expanding to additional contracting programs.
Business impact
Field agents gained early notifications and a clear daily docket, improving awareness of upcoming service inquiries and reducing missed departure windows. Turn-by-turn routing and departure alerts help teams close appointments on time across dispersed territories.
Operations teams gained track-and-trace visibility into agent activity and task completion without phone-based check-ins. Schedule changes and job updates propagate immediately, keeping dispatch, agents, and customers aligned through the day.
Finance and back-office teams gained automated timecards and invoices tied to actual hours and equipment usage, reducing manual data entry and supporting accurate agent payouts.
Results
The Skilled mobility platform delivered measurable improvements across response time, field coordination, and back-office efficiency.
Agents respond faster to service inquiries with heightened awareness of daily schedules. Job updates flow in real time, keeping business processes seamless between the field and the enterprise.
Automated timecards produce precise digital logs aligned to pay periods. Automated invoicing and data entry save employee time while streamlined operations support efficient, accurate payouts for field teams.
Looking ahead
Skilled continues to build schedule optimization software for contractor and distribution businesses on a mobility foundation designed for scale.
The partnership with Intronsoft produced a platform where scheduling intelligence, field execution, and billing connect in one system, giving Skilled's customers transparency and automation across workflows that were previously manual, fragmented, and hard to audit.
